Embodied Somatics – a 3 day immersion for clinicians working with trauma*

Trauma often happens in a dynamic, through relationship. Therefore, it makes sense that healing happens through relationships. Trauma lives in the unconscious somatic realms of the body. Therefore, it makes sense that healing happens when we learn to listen and communicate to the unspoken, unseen, somatic and felt. In this special three-day immersion, Natalia Rachel will guide you to approach therapeutic practises from both a relational and somatic approach.

Each day will include:

1. Somatic meditations to help you listen and treat from an embodied and somatic baseline

2. Theory and discussion. Topics will include:

  • Origins of somatics
  • Association vs Dissociation
  • Capacity and resource building as essential for trauma-informed care
  • Somatic Bracing – understanding the body’s ‘No’
  • Somatic Intuition, somatic countertransference and somatic boundaries
  • The nervous system, sensation tracking and somatic safety
  • Somatic bridging and story navigation (intro
  • The history of touch as an agent of healing

3. Experiential and practical work

  • Each day explore partner work to practise relational somatic processing skills as well as explore introductory touch practises to help safe somatization

This is an experiential training, and participants should come ready to explore their own somatic blueprint, including: level of association vs dissociation, sensory pathways, unprocessed relational somatic stories and nervous system baseline.

What you’ll walk away with:

  1. Deeper understanding of relational and somatic approaches
  2. Greater self-attunment and client attunement capabilities
  3. A suite of new skills/somatic processes to integrate into your client work
  4. Hands activated for listening and healing properties

*** While this is a gentle exploration of the work and there will be no intentional trauma processing during this immersion, due to the nature of the work, it is possible that participants may have unresolved content emerge. All efforts will be made to create a trauma-informed and compassionate space. Participants are encouraged to have their own therapist or supervisor to process with after the experience to ensure ample integration.
